The wheel to balance your life

I will share with you a tool that helps me to manage my life in a lot of areas - The Wheel of Life. It's a coaching and self-assessment tool. It helps you to look at the areas of your existence and to find balance and happiness between them. It makes you realize which areas you feel more pleased with, which ones are you giving more priority to and which ones you're spending less energy in. For example: are you paying more attention to your career and not enough to your self-care? Or are you spending moretime with your family but not managing well your finances?

The wheel of life is divided into main categories such as self-care, relationships, career, finances, spirituality, health, creativity, home and environment. It has a scoring process from 1 till 10 to each area, where 10 means you're completly satisfied with that area. This will help you to see your life from a higher perspective, how it looks right now and what can you change in the areas you're not so pleased with. After the evaluation process you can ask yourself: what can I do to be more pleased in this part of my life? Here starts the process to find solutions. The wheel already helped me to find creative answers to some problems I was having. The answers help you to be in a more instrospective state and to raise up the level of creativity.

If you look to the picture, each area has a different measure. When doing this exercise you need to be honest with yourself. I want you to consider that finding a "balance" doesn't mean trying to reach perfection. So just be honest evaluating. You're the only one who evaluates your life conditions. The first step is being clear that you want to change something otherwise you wouldn't start doing the wheel :)

Also consider when evaluating the wheel that life goes through different periods or cycles and it's very hard to keep all these areas at the same level of satisfaction. For sure during the year you'll have important deadlines fom your work or exams if you're a student. Moments with a bit more stress, let's say. During these periods will be for sure difficult to be fully pleased with your work when the deadline arrives and few time you spend with your family, partner and friends. It's normal but it's a period (we hope).


I also leave you another examples of wheels you can take. The first image and its division are is only an examples. You can also find others you feel more related to and or you can even create your own wheel type.
